Today would have been Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday and, to celebrate, today’s Google Doodle is all about the great man, check it out…

There’s also a great article on the Guardian website about what he’d be doing if he were still alive today.
Queen are one of my favourite classic rock bands. Camp and sometimes uncool? Most definitely, but I have a lot of respect for a band that really just shouldn’t have worked or ended up a stadium rock band – but did and were. Their body of work is immense (15 albums!), distinctive and incredibly diverse, plus they wrote some classic rock tracks that stand the test of time - my favourite night out as a student always ended in Don’t Stop Me Now, which was sure to have everyone on the dancefloor, and I’ll always smile remembering drunkenly singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody (channeling Wayne’s World) in the back of a mini bus on the way back from Fi’s 30th birthday party.
So, in honour of this day, here are some of my favourite handmade Freddie/Queen-related finds:

I Want To Ride My Bicycle Print

Freddie Mercury cross stitch? Yes please!
I love old vinyl – and this clock is such a great way of reusing it (as long as you have a spare to listen to, of course!)
AND, in case you needed another reason to love Queen, Brian May made his own guitars – which is pretty damn awesome in my book!
