(Not So) Secret Talent: Upcycling

I’m really not sure I have a secret talent, or not one worth writing home about (I can actually tie a knot in a cherry stalk with my tongue, but that’s never proved particularly useful…)

So instead I’m going to use this Blog Everyday in May theme to talk about something I’ve kind of alluded to here on this blog, but not exactly shouted about. I guess I’ve been keeping it on the quiet because I’ve been perfecting my skills – learning new techniques, getting my head around using my overlocker.

If you read my post on not buying new clothes, you’ll know that I like to take old, often vintage clothes and give them a new lease of life. Often it is just the shape of a garment that is out of date or unflattering, but the fabrics, patterns and details themselves are brilliant. I love looking for the potential in things that other people wouldn’t usually look twice at.

Here are a few of the things I’ve been working on recently…

The best compliment is when someone asks where I got something from and I get to say ‘oh this, I made it myself from something I found in the charity shop’.

I’m very impressed with the blogging every month! I’ve been such a lazy blogger recently! And that sequin sweater is absolutely gorgeous! A great secret talent to have. šŸ™‚
